It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Ruth (Francis) Lessard, 88, on Friday, June 3, 2022 at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin, VT. 

She was born May 10, 1934 in Burlington, VT to Solomon James and Pauline Laurie (Lessor) Francis.  She married Normand Joseph Lessard on February 19, 1955 in Shelburne, VT. This year they celebrated 67 years of marriage.  

Shirley loved flowers and gardening as well as knitting, canvas art, and reading.  Her spirit animals were hummingbirds and all the wildlife she enjoyed watching on Roxbury Mountain.  She made a trip to Washington, DC to visit her daughter and they visited the DC Zoo where she enjoyed another of her favorite animals, the Panda Bears that were on loan to the zoo from China to raise a family.

She was an amazing wife and wonderful mother who will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish Shirley’s memory are her husband, Normand; her daughter Susan Marie Lessard o f Poteet, TX; two granddaughters, one niece and one nephew.

She was predeceased by her sister Barbara Lessor Lessard.

There are no visiting hours.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 72 Church Street, Shelburne, VT.  Burial will immediately follow at Shelburne Village Cemetery, Shelburne, VT.
