Obituary

Sandra Lou Webb - 10/28/1947 - 3/28/2022
Burlington, VT

Sandra passed away peacefully at the age of 74, surrounded by friends.

Sandra was born in San Francisco on October 28, 1947 the first of two children, to Hardie G. Webb and Elsie Roberts.  Her father was an Air Force Officer and Pilot so as a young girl and teenager she and her brother Chip traveled to places such as Japan, Hawaii and Washington D.C.  She was married to her love, Jim for fifteen years.

Sandra worked for the National Geographic Society, AAA, and as a copy editor, either attached to a publishing company or freelance, for eleven years until 2003. She took time out from these positions to pursue her deep love of French, studying at the Sorbonne in Paris and undertaking graduate studies in French at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Sandra had been brought up Christian.  However it was as an adult that she felt called to the Catholic faith and was confirmed just before entering the Carmelite Monastery.  Sandra entered the Carmelites a second time, but God called her to live a life of prayer within the secular community.

Sandra moved to Burlington, Vermont permanently in 2010.    She worked as a tutor of French as well as other subjects, as an afterschool program teacher, and substitute teacher for the Burlington School District, Christ the King School and Rice Memorial High School.

She is predeceased by both her parents and her brother.

Those who knew Sandra appreciated her quiet, gentle spirit, soft spoken voice and incredible faith-filled spirituality.  She was never as happy as when she was able to adore Jesus by praying and keeping Him company in front of the Tabernacle.
