Ronald E. Demers
Ronald E. Demers, 73, passed away at his home in Colchester on May 11, 2021 following a brief illness.
He was born in Burlington, VT on November 11, 1947 to Eloi and Gabrielle (LaPierre) Demers. Ronald attended Rice Memorial High School and graduated from Burlington High School in 1965. He served as a South Burlington police officer from 1975 – 1980 then began a 30 year career in production at IBM in Essex Junction.
On August 8, 1986 he married his soulmate, Donna Dike in Colchester. Ronald and Donna made many happy memories during their years together.
Throughout his life Ronald was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed spending time with his buddies at Maidstone on the Lake four times a year.
Left behind to cherish Ronald’s memory are his wife, Donna (Dike) Demers; brother Paul (Mary) Demers; sister Marielle Deforge; brothers-in-law David Dike and James Robear; nieces Michelle Demers and Lori Robear and her partner Tami Kloss; nephews Michael Demers and Michael Robear and his partner Victor Medina; and many dear friends.
Ronald was preceded in death by his sister, Aline F. Robear and nephew James Robear.
In accordance with Ronald’s wishes, there will be no services. His ashes will be scattered in one of Ronald’s favorite spots by his friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Peter Gunther and his oncologists Dr. Shahid Ahmed and Dr. Mark Plante, and the many staff at the University of Vermont Medical Center Oncology Team and Hospice.
