In the course of my forty-year railroad career I was fortunate to know many people who truly loved the business, Bob was one of them. We first met when my wife and I were "house hunting" prior to my starting work as Central Vermont Railway general manager  in December 1989 and stopped one evening at an event of some kind in Burlington  where Bob was selling copies of his CV history and other books. We became - and remained friends with him and Janet throughout my CV time and stayed in touch, mainly through Christmas cards thereafter. I never ceased to marvel at all of his railroad and related activities and am glad to know that son Mark and grandson William are keeping the railroad family tradition alive. R.I.P Bob and best wishes from Rita and me to the family.
