Paul Allard

March 8, 2022

Paul Edmund Allard, of 131C West Street, Essex Junction, VT, went home to be with his parents and brothers while in the loving care of his wife and special caretakers on March 8, 2022.

Paul was born in Burlington, VT on November 28, 1943, along with twin Jim Allard, to Lucien R. and Emma (Joyal) Allard.  He married Jean A. Brown on October 4, 1975 at St. Mary of the Assumption in Middlebury, VT.  Paul proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy beginning his military service on July 15, 1962. He was active in the Naval Reserve on February 15, 1967.

While living in Boston, Paul worked as an Insurance Adjuster, and Loan Collection Agent.  Missing Vermont, he retired to begin his 30 year career as a school bus driver for South Burlington School Districts retiring from there in 2012.

Paul was a member of the USS Massey Association and American Legion Post 91 in Colchester, VT.

Paul’s love of antique rifles, which he built himself, led him to present living history lectures at the Ethan Allen Homestead and local schools.  He participated in historical battle reenactments at the 1st Encampment at Fortress Louisbourg in Nova Scotia in 1995 and at Fort Ticonderoga, New York.  He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Paul was the most resourceful person for his family.  If something needed fixing, who would you call?  Uncle Paul.  And, whatever Paul did, was done to perfection. He was honored to serve his family over the years.  He will truly be missed.

In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his twin brother James, Charles (Bud) Bruce and Robert.

Paul leaves behind the love of his life, Jean; his one and only sister Patricia (Pat) Allard; his maternal aunt Doris Viens; his many nieces Joanne Allard, Karen (Dwight) Rolston, Kathleen (David) Drezewicki, Julie (Chris) Roams; his nephews David (Lisa) Allard, Rick (Michelle) Gates; sister-in-law Donna Allard; brother-in-law Gary Brown; Dolores (Ed) Walton; special friend Jen Bixler; and a large body of family and friends too numerous to list who had the honor to call him a friend.

A funeral and celebration of Paul’s life will take place on April 23, 2022 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Essex Junction, VT.  A reception will follow at the American Legion Post 91, 3650 Roosevelt Highway, Colchester, VT. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to the McClure-Miller Respite House, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, VT  05446.
