Michael was commissioned in the Air Force and entered pilot training at Laredo Air Force Base, TX, where he received his wings in 1964, and the call sign “Little Bit”, derived no doubt from his slight stature which sometimes required him to bring a seat cushion to the cockpit. He was a proud member of the VTANG’s storied Green Mountain Boys and mastered the T-37, T-33, F-89, EB-57, F-102 and the F-4 Phantom during his service. He led teams to William Tell, Team Spirit and a multitude of other competitions, exercises, and deployments around the world from Germany, to Libya to Greenland and South Korea. Upon retiring he flew commercially for Brockway Airlines. He was a master Mason with the Waterman Lodge. He also ran his own Lawn Medic franchise and pursued his passion for golf by working part time at Catamount Country Club. There was no better role model, father, husband, Wing Man, Fighter Pilot, or leader.
