Obituary

Mary Jane (McKenzie) Putzier of Essex Junction, VT, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2020, at the Respite House in Colchester, VT after a hard-fought battle with Cancer. Her four beloved boys were at her side when she went to be with her loved ones in heaven.

Jane was born in Colchester, Vermont on September 15, 1943 to David Edward and Mary (Terrien) McKenzie. Jane Grew up in Burlington, attended Rice Memorial High School and graduated in 1961. After graduation Jane married John W. Putzier in 1963 and moved to Brooklyn, NY where they began their family. In 1969 they returned to Vermont where she enjoyed raising her four boys in Essex Jct., as they were her pride and joy. She then worked in various positions in the medical field throughout the years, retiring from Birchwood Nursing Home in 2011. Becoming a Grandmother was one of her greatest gifts, she enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren who brought her so much joy and happiness.

Jane is Survived by her four sons; Christopher and wife Pam of Essex Jct., VT, Carl (Tony) Putzier and wife Joanne of Jericho, VT, Edward Putzier and partner Heather Gonyeau of St. Albans, VT, Timothy Putzier and wife Darcy of Colchester, VT.  Grandchildren; Corey Bessette, Taylor Lovely, Jakobe Putzier, Brooke Putzier, Michael Putzier, Alex Putzier, Aleisha Poirier-Castro, Gavin Putzier, Ryan Putzier and Great grandson, Caleb Lovely. Sister, Ann McKenzie Dewyea and John of Essex Jct., VT, Brother, James and wife Barbara McKenzie of Milton, VT, Sister in Laws, Anne McKenzie of Saratoga, NY, and Fran Skeggs of Dorset, VT. As well as many Nieces Nephews and Cousins.

Jane is predeceased by her parents David E. and Mary (Terrien) McKenzie, brothers, David “Mickey” McKenzie and Edward Austin McKenzie, Sister in Law April McKenzie and Grandson Austin Michael Putzier. 

The family would like to add a heartfelt “Thank You” to all the wonderful staff at the McClure Miller Respite House for the many months of incredible care she received while there. In Lieu of Flowers, donations can be made in her name to the McClure Miller Respite House at; 3113 Roosevelt Hwy., Colchester, VT, 05446.
