Lorna May Terp
Shelburne, VT

Lorna May Terp, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. Lorna May (Cook) Terp (born July 4, 1929), of Allston, MA, aged 92, died in the presence of her husband Charles (Chuck) Terp of 67 years on July 23, 2021.  She lived a life full of cooking, crafting, reading, mentoring young readers, and nurturing family. Wise, witty, compassionate, and a dear friend to many, she remained sharp to the end.

Born to Mabel and Frederick Cook, she was the older daughter of nine children. She met the love of her life through the church youth group, and subsequently married Chuck in August 28, 1954. Over almost 7 decades, through work commitments, they lived in many states, where Lorna made friends that lasted through her life. Lorna and Chuck eventually moved to Shelburne, Vermont in 1968 where they raised their three children, Judith, Janet, and Douglas.  In addition to her husband and children she leaves behind her daughter-in-law Wanda, her grandsons C.J. and Jensen, her sister Phyllis, and many nieces and nephews.

She led the church’s craft group over several years, was an avid bridge player, an active volunteer at Shelburne’s Town Hall and the Ethan Allen Homestead, delivered meals on wheels, and devoted countless hours sharing her love of reading with elementary students who struggled to read.

In addition to all this, she was an enthusiastic supporter of Champlain Valley Union’s and the University of Vermont’s athletic teams, particularly soccer, hockey, baseball, field hockey, and track and field. Hundreds of athletes enjoyed her famous chocolate chip cookies over the years.
