Fran is survived by his wife Susan; his daughters Katie & her husband Brandon, Meagan & her partner Joe, and their mother Nancy; his daughter Cari; granddaughters Josephine and Angelina; brothers Robert & husband Lawrence DiBona McLaughlin and William McLaughlin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as numerous extended family members.

He was predeceased by his parents Francis J. McLaughlin Sr. and Helen Hogan McLaughlin; his brother Charles (Chick) McLaughlin and his sister Madeline (McLaughlin) Harris.
Francis was born on September 29, 1951, in Upper Darby, PA. He spent his early years in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey areas. After high school, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He returned to civilian life, graduated from the University of South Florida (GO BULLS) and stayed in the St. Petersburg area. There he founded his general contracting business, FMI Inc. which he owned and operated until he semi-retired.

All through his life, Fran had a deep love for the water, be it ocean, lake, or pond. He spent time on the USF Marine Science research vessel, “Bellows” in the St Pete area and built his waterfront dream home in Gulfport on Boca Ciega Bay. He enjoyed an active life, fishing, skiing, snorkeling and scuba diving. He loved watching football, the Bucs and the Eagles, and NASCAR too. Whether it was work or play, Fran was a dedicated craftsman who always reveled in tinkering. In his retirement Fran worked at improvising and fixing broken things, and, in doing so, transformed them into art.
