Flora H. Palm
Flora H. Palm passed away peacefully at the Green Mountain Nursing Home on April 10 at the age of 92. Born March 16, 1930, in Burlington, she was the daughter of the late Ken and Myrtle (Bryant) Blair. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Francis H. Palm, Jr. whom she married on June 19, 1953. She lived most of her life in Burlington and resided in St. Albans for 15 years with Francis until his death.
She leaves a son, Craig Palm and his wife, Becca, of Newcastle, WA; a daughter, Jane Suder of Nashville, TN and her two sons, Daniel, and fiancée Adler, and Eric and wife, Miranda; two step-grandchildren, Douglas, wife Jenn, their two sons, James and Kenneth, and Deborah, husband Louis, and their daughter Sophia, all of Washington.
Flora received her Associate Degree in Education at Champlain College. She was active in serving her Ward 3 community and Burlington in many ways. She served for 4 years on the Burlington School Board along with Francis (the first husband and wife team to serve in that capacity on the School Board). Prior to that, she was President of the Burlington Teacher’s Aides in Burlington. She also served several years on the Cemetery Commission, the Library Commission and the Neighborhood Planning Assembly.
Flora was known for her strength, directness, and infectious laugh. She loved well by being both tough and caring. She enjoyed a good bargain, talking with friends and family, and cake for her 92nd birthday.
The family is very grateful to the caregivers and friends who cared for and assisted her during the last several years.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday May 17th in the Louisa Howard Chapel at the Lakeview Cemetery in Burlington. Interment will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans City, VT 05478.
