Evelyn Bray Palin
South Burlington, VT

Evelyn Bray Palin, 97, passed away on April 14, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at The Residence at Quarry Hill in South Burlington, VT.

Evelyn ("Evy") was born on September 25, 1924, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Bronx, NY and was the only child of Frederick Bray and Dorothy Lindsay Bray.

Evy was predeceased by her devoted husband, Lyndol (“Lindy") in 2018. They were married for 73 remarkable years. Left to cherish Evy's memory are her daughters: Dianne Alexander and husband Ron, Susan Gleason and husband Jim, Sondra Stearns and partner Jim Byron, and Nancy Alice Langan; son, Richard Lyndol Palin and wife, Leigh Anne as well as 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was extremely proud of each of them and will be dearly missed by all.

Evy grew up in New Jersey and spent summers at Lindsay Beach in Newport, VT where she worked for her grandmother, Alice Lindsay. She graduated from Green Mountain Junior College in Poultney, VT in 1942. While Evy loved being a "Jersey Girl”, she embraced her Vermont roots. She often enjoyed attending dances at the International Club in Newport where she met her lifetime dance partner, Lindy. Evy and her family spent time living in Louisville, KY, Newport and Burlington, VT, cultivating and treasuring lifelong friendships. Her door was always open and her hospitality was legendary, especially at 5:00. Evy's love of athletics included a passion for all Boston teams. She rarely missed watching their games while sporting the team's attire. She was an avid card player (bridge) and loved having a "full house". Evy will be remembered for her fierce love of family, boundless energy and irrepressible antics.

Evy's life came full circle upon retirement to Lindsay Beach. Lake Memphremagog was the site for annual family reunions, weddings, anniversaries and birthday celebrations.

There will be a celebration of Evy's life this summer in Newport, VT, date to be determined.
