Elizabeth Anne Fabara
Elizabeth Anne Fabara, 39, passed away at the University of Vermont Medical Center on March 1, 2022, after a 17-month battle with breast cancer, with her loving husband and children by her side. Elizabeth was born in Burlington on April 21, 1982. She grew up in Burlington and graduated from Burlington High School in 2000, UVM with her Bachelor’s in Education in 2004, and later on, earned her Master’s Degree from Queens College in New York City.
After graduating from UVM, Elizabeth became an elementary school teacher. Soon after graduating, she moved to New York City. While living in New York, Elizabeth met the love of her life, Alex Fabara. The two were married on July 11, 2009. In 2010, the two relocated to Florida where she continued teaching in the public school system and lived for eight years. During this time their two beautiful children were born, Ava and Brandon. Family meant everything to Elizabeth and the four of them moved back to Vermont to be close to family. Since moving back, Elizabeth taught at C.P. Smith Elementary School in Burlington where she was currently teaching first grade.
At her heart and core, Elizabeth was a teacher. That was her first passion, along with her own children, and even while experiencing such illness, her concern was for her school and students.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Alex, and two children, Ava and Brandon of Burlington; her parents Paul and Debbie Sicard of Burlington; her brother Kevin Sicard and sister-in-law Nataly and niece and nephew, Bailey and Preston, of Essex Junction; paternal grandmother Mary (Rose) Sicard and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Also, many close teaching friends, past and present.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm on Monday, March 7, 2022, at St. Mark’s Church on North Avenue in Burlington. A graveside burial will be arranged for this spring.
