June 19, 1942 ~ June 17, 2022 (age 79)

Obituary

David Michael Jones was born on June 19th, 1942, and passed peacefully on June 17th, 2022, surrounded by his family and friends, just two days before his milestone 80th Birthday.

He married Noella (Landry) Boulet on June 1st, 1985; they shared a deep love for each other.  Together they made a wonderful life for themselves and their children.   David is survived by his wife Noella and their children Lisa (Jones) McGonagle and husband Kevin; Shawn Jones; Danny Boulet; and Jennifer Boulet; along with grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kyle, Lauren, Jacob and Hunter.  He was the youngest of two sons to John and Corrine (Meunier) Jones.   Along with his beloved brother Donny, they spent their early years in Burlington before the family moved to Essex Center, where he resided for life.

David graduated from Essex High School in 1960 and attended Vermont Technical College.   Following college, he joined IBM and retired after 40 years.  In retirement, he continued to consult for IBM for several years thereafter.  He was also a Master Electrician and for a decade in the 1980’s he taught apprentice classes for the State of Vermont, which he loved.  Also in retirement, he and his brother Donny, both extremely talented, created J and J Construction.  A chance to work with his best friend Donny each day as a Team.   Together, they helped an abundance of friends and family.   And never a nefarious name was called…

David was active - loved the outdoors and sports.  His interests ran a gambit and he truly excelled at these adventures.  He was a great soccer player in his youth.  He was an amazing bowler and softball pitcher.  He rocked horseshoes, golf, pool and was an avid hunter.  He also enjoyed reading books and teaching his skills to others.  He enjoyed all these activities with both his family and friends.   His love of hunting brought him to many places like Canora, Canada, New York, and Montana.   He also spent many years hunting in both deer camps in Danville and Groton, Vermont.

David was a smart, kind and patient man with an abundance of friends, an extra-large handful he thought of as family.  They constantly gathered at the barn or clubs and went on a new adventure a few times a year enjoying each other’s time and conversations together.   They are all great friends, perfect old friends.  Many he grew up with and have all grown older together.

As a father and grandfather, he encouraged and engaged with all his children and grandchildren.  We all share amazing memories of the trips to Florida, the beaches in Maine, clam digging, camping, boating, ice fishing and skiing the slopes.  Often, just gathering at Sunset Drive around the pool for a day of relaxation and great food.  He will be missed immensely.

David and Noella were married for 37 years.   For their honeymoon, they went on a seven country, three-week tour of Europe.   They continued their love for travel throughout their marriage going on several Bahama cruises and trips to Nashville, Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and New Orleans.   Their most recent trip, a cruise through Alaska will remain extremely memorable.    They were snowbirds together and enjoyed winters in Bonita Springs, Florida where they share many friends and family.

He leaves his brother Donny and wife Frieda of Richmond, Vermont, the large Landry family, former daughter-in-law Michelle Boulet of Barre, Vermont, his beloved niece Heidi Jones and her partner Randy Howard of Georgia, Vermont and friend for life, Bob Drury of Essex Center, Vermont.
