Sharon Helene Pratt
Sharon Helene Pratt of Shelburne, beloved wife of James Pratt, died peacefully at the VNA Respite House on Saturday, April 14, 2018 after a long struggle with dementia. She was 71.
Sharon was born April 1947 in Middlebury, Vt. She grew up in the town of Lincoln, Vt.
After finishing Bristol High School in 1965 she worked for a year at Simmonds Precision in Vergennes.
From March of 1966 to Jan 1980 Sharon worked making furniture at the Drake and Smith Furniture Company in Bristol. When the company closed, she worked one summer at Mount Abe High School, getting the school ready for the fall season.
From Sept 1984, to Oct 1987, Sharon worked at the Middlebury Inn as a room keeper, and laundry supervisor. She enjoyed meeting the many tour groups that came through, especially at Christmas time. She met many nice people from all over the world. She even met one guest, the entertainer Neil Diamond. While working there she met and started a loving relationship with her future husband James Pratt. In the fall of 1987 they married, and moved to the town Shelburne, Vt.
Sharon then worked as a store clerk for 12 years at Kmart.
In September of 1999 she went to work at the Wake Robin Retirement Community in Shelburne in the resident dining services dept. While there she met many wonderful and special people. They made her laugh, and cry, and stop to think.
Sharon loved to watch fireworks at the July 4th celebrations. Her special interests were plants, animals, and cooking.
Sharon was very generous, and loved to give at Christmas time. She liked to bake Christmas cookies for her friends and coworkers.
Later in life she and James enjoyed traveling abroad on ocean cruises.

Special thanks to her home care provider Roseann Martin who gave her happy times shopping, eating out, and many extras.
Thanks to the staff at the VNA Respite House where she spent her last few days.
She is survived by her husband James Pratt, son Derek Kimball, and sister Coreen WIxson.
She is predeceased by her father Olin Atkins, and mother Elizabeth Atkins.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held Saturday April 21 at the Shelburne United Methodist Church fellowship hall from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm .
