Paul Edward Parsons
Paul Edward Parsons, 83, of Roxboro, NC, (formerly of Essex Junction, VT) passed away at his home on Friday, February 8, 2019.
Paul was born in Burlington, VT on September 17, 1935 to Stanton A. and Dorothy (Thomas) Parsons. He grew up Burlington where he attended elementary and junior high schools. During his freshman year of high school, Paul’s family moved to Watertown, MA where he finished his freshman year. In 1952 his family moved to Swanton, VT when, in 1954, he graduated from Swanton High School. After high school he served his country for three years in the Marine Corps aboard the USS Worcester (CL-144) Light Cruiser. He was discharged in August 1957 and returned to Swanton, VT.
Paul worked at H. W. Hungerford Ford garage in St. Albans for three years. In 1960 he moved back to Burlington to work at Fred Nye’s filling station and then Woodbury Lumber where he worked as a truck driver then in the office as an inside salesman. In 1968 he began what would be a 30 year career at Rice Lumber in Shelburne retiring in 1998.
Paul met his wife of almost 42 years, Amaryllis (Page) Parsons, in 1960. They were married in April 1962. Paul and Amaryllis built their own home in Essex Junction themselves under the watchful eye of Amaryllis’ father Stanley Page.
Paul loved his dogs, who he always treated as members of the family. He enjoyed bird hunting.
Surviving are his sister, Janet Ruth Parsons, several cousins, nieces, nephews and his caregiver, Tiffany Carr.
Paul was predeceased by his wife, Amaryllis in 2003, and a brother, David Harold Parsons.
It was Paul’s wish that there be no visiting hours. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife in the Danville Green Cemetery, Danville, VT on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 1pm.
