Norman C. Caswell, Jr.
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Norman C. Caswell, Jr., formerly of Hyannis, MA, on May 10, 2019 at the age of 84.
Norman was born December 24, 1934 in Hyannis, MA to Norman C. Caswell, Sr. and Elsie (Young) Caswell. He attended schools in Hyannis and graduated from Barnstable High School in Hyannis in 1952. Norman proudly served in the US Airforce between October 1, 1954 and June 13, 1958.
He first worked as a cable splicer for New England Telephone and then as an estimate assigner for NYNEX until his retirement in 1989 after 29 years of service. He served as an EMT for the Hyannis Fire Department and as a Special Officer for the Nantucket Police Department.
On April 27, 1985 he married Mary (Steele) Robinson. Norman and Mary were married for 34 years and made many happy memories together. Norman enjoyed airplanes and airshows, traveling to all 50 states, wooden pen making, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved cooking and will be remembered for his delicious omelets, clam chowder, hamburgers, orange cranberry nut bread and cornbread stuffing.
Left behind to cherish Norman’s memory are his wife Mary; Patsy (Nickens) Caswell Jernigan, the mother of his daughter; his daughter Cindy (Eddie) Riggs; stepson Anthony (Tia) Robinson; stepdaughter Pamela (Phillip) Perry; sister Janice Rounds; brothers in law Donald (Mauna) Steele and Paul (Lucille) Steele; nieces and nephews; special friend Bob Frydenlund; grandchildren Josh, Andy, Kris, Aaron, Jason, Tim, Evan, Kristen and Kourtney; and seven great-grandchildren .
Norman was predeceased by his parents and his sister Marilyn Wisenor.
At the family’s request there will be no visiting hours or funeral services at this time.
