Marilyn “Mim” (Guilmette) Pinard
Marilyn Pinard, or ‘Mim’ as she was called by everyone who knew her, passed away peacefully at home with her loving husband and family at her side on September 25, 2019 at age 87.
Mim was born on April 11, 1932 in Waterloo Quebec Canada, grew up in Barre, Vermont, graduating from Spaulding High School in 1950. Shortly after graduation she moved to Washington DC, serving as the Executive Assistant to the General Manager of the Mayflower Hotel for several years. In January 1954 she married the love of her life, Paul Pinard and together they embarked on nearly 66 years of love and wonderful adventures together. Mim dreamed of being a teacher and her dream came true. Although not a classroom educator, she taught much to all who knew her ~ love for husband, family, friends and those in need, love for adventure, love for life. She taught many “subjects” over the years – compassion, creativity, faith and facing one’s fears, money management, cheerleading, generosity and patience, gentleness, encouragement, wisdom and kindness.
Mim was a dedicated volunteer to several organizations over the years ~ St. Joseph School, Girl Scouts (the best part was when she was Cookie Mother), St. Joseph Home for the Elderly, American Red Cross, and together with Paul - Meals on Wheels. She participated in the March of Dimes WalkAmerica and Relay for Life for many years. Mim was always ready to lend a loving hand to family and close friends as a loving companion, chauffeur or confidante. She loved anything outdoors ~ camping, hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, days at the beach, biking and always up for a walk. She was always ready for adventure and any time she could get sunshine and fresh air.
Mim and Paul were faithful cheerleaders at many of their grandchildrens’ events and were so very proud of all their achievements. Family was everything to Mim and the best gift we could ever give her was to be all together in laughter and love.
She and Paul loved to travel and passed this love onto their family. They crossed the US several times by car and took numerous other trips around the country. Their road-trip highlight was their adventure to Alaska in 1985. Throughout their years, they visited or passed through every state in the US – even Hawaii. They ventured outside the US, visiting Puerto Rico, Bermuda, England, Germany and cruises to the Mediterranean Region and through the Panama Canal.
Whether they were volunteering or traveling, Mim and Paul made new friends everywhere they went. Friends were family to them and they were blessed with the most wonderful friendships throughout their lives.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband Paul, daughter Paulette and husband Joe Bergeron, son Marty and wife Sue Pinard, son Matt and wife Lori Pinard, daughter Patrice and husband Mark FitzGerald, and daughter Pamelyn and fiancé Ron Lessard. In addition are grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Christopher and wife Jenn Bergeron, Daniel Bergeron and fiancée Danielle DenBleyker; Ariana Drown and daughters Alexis, Piper and Ava; Carrie and husband Jared O’Hear and daughter Malia; Jacob and wife Erica Pinard; Mindy Tyler; Justin Pinard; Erin FitzGerald; Luke FitzGerald; Dominick and Nathaniel Lessard and Gregory Borden, and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Leona (Beaney) and Frank Guilmette, her brother Frank and wife Margaret Guilmette, sister Alma and husband Norman, granddaughters Alyssia Pinard and Elise Rose Bergeron and many dear friends who are anxiously awaiting her arrival with the Angels. She’ll also be reunited with her beloved childhood pig, Ophelia!
The family is appreciative beyond words to Mim’s wonderful caregiver Angels: Kealey Buteau, Alyssa Lavalley, Dawn Lavalley and Shiann Lavalley. The loving care given to Mim and Paul since January of 2018 is more than anyone could ask for and they truly have become members of our family. We are also grateful to the team from Bayada Home Health Care for their compassionate care and support and to Deacon Gerry Scilla for his frequent visits providing prayers and comfort.
