Lois T. Duell, 78, of South Burlington, VT passed away peacefully in the company of her daughter Kim.  Lois was born at home in Burlington, VT, December 27, 1940 to Rupert and Greeta (Brown) Trudo.  She attended schools in Burlington graduating from Burlington High School in 1958.  Where she made many lasting friendships, which sustained her through her final days.

 

On August 13, 1960 Lois married the love of her life, Donald Duell.  They were married for 35 years and made many happy memories together.  Lois and Don enjoyed travelling spending summers camping at Lake Willoughby and spring in Fort Myers Florida.  They also visited Spain and Morocco.  After Don’s death Lois continued zest for travel with two trips to Italy as well and the United Kingdom.

 

Lois relocated to Port Orange Florida first as a snowbird and then permanently in 2012. She leaves many treasured friends in Florida, especially Rose Martin.

 

Lois began her career at the Howard Bank in 1971, when her children reached school age, joining her sister Dot in what was then the central settlement department of the bank.  Over her 28-year career she worked her way up to Assistant Vice President in consumer lending, the role she held at retirement in 1999.

 

Always giving back to the community in which she lived, Lois served on the board of VT Cares as well as the VT Association of Retired Citizens, was a member of the VT Jaycees, and a South Burlington Rebel Booster.

 

Lois had the ability to make anybody a friend and was a gracious lady.  She leaves many beloved friends.  There are too many to name them all, but her dear friend Margaret Yeadon played a special role in Lois’ life.

 

Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter Kim, son David (Gretchen), her brother Robert Trudo (Carol), brother in law Butch Duell, grandson Max Duell, granddaughters Julie Frappier, Emma Tinkel (Patrick) and Mayve Duell as well as her great grand children Grayson and Novalle Tinkel.

 

Lois was predeceased by her loving husband Donald Sr. (Ducky), her son Donald Jr. (Chip); her siblings Rupert and Dorothy (Knight) and son in law Rick Parrott.

 

A Mass of Christina Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at the Chapel of Saint Michael the Archangel on the Saint Michael’s College Campus. Burial will immediately follow at Resurrection Park Catholic Cemetery in South Burlington, VT.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to VT CARES, 187 St. Paul Street, Burlington, VT 05403.
