Linda Burleigh Smith
South Hero - Linda Burleigh Smith of South Hero, Vermont passed away peacefully at home on July 20th, 2018 at the age of 77 years.
Linda was born August 14th, 1940 to her parents Raymond and Mildred Burleigh.
Linda was raised on their family farm in Charlotte, Vermont with her siblings Paul and Brenda. After college, at the University of Connecticut, Linda married the love of her life, Woody Smith. Their happy marriage lasted for 50 years until Woody passed in 2016. Linda and Woody had four wonderful children together: Heather, Adam, Aaron, and Byron. Linda's continued love can heard in the laughter of all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
For 20+ years, Linda shared her love of reading as a Librarian at the South Hero Town Library. She helped create a warm and welcoming environment for the community inside of Folsom Elementary. When Linda wasn't nurturing the minds of students, she could be found playing cards with her friends and family. To her, the people around the table were more important than the score.
Linda Smith will always be remembered by the love that she had for her family and friends. Please join us in celebrating Linda's life on Saturday, July 28th at 1pm at the Corbin & Palmer Funeral Home in Essex Jct, Vermont. Afterward everyone is invited to follow the funeral procession to the Riverside Cemetery in Swanton and then to the family home in South Hero for lunch.
