Janice Bagley Messier
Janice Bagley Messier, born July 18, 1940 in Granville VT, passed away on December 8, 2018 at the Birchwood Nursing Home following a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Jan was predeceased by her only son, Timothy Owen Messier, her father Owen C. Bagley, and her mother Ruby Wilber Bagley, as well as her step-mother Priscilla Bagley in addition to her three brothers, Keith, Reginald & Albert Bagley and her sisters Olive Downs & Gloria Anne Bagley. She leaves 6 nieces and nephews.
Jan graduated from Rochester High School in 1958 and went on to graduate from Champlain College. She worked several years at Shearer Chevrolet as a bookkeeper, as well as at Jim Messier’s Mobil for a few years. Jan was very close to her son Tim who remained by her side taking care of her during much of her sickness until the day that Timmy passed. Jan was always greeting all Tim’s friends. Jan found enjoyment from horses, her dog little Anne and her car which Tim had rebuilt for her. Jan also knitted gifts for the family and collected Avon collectibles.
Visiting hours will be at Corbin & Palmer Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Essex Jct., VT from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019 with a funeral to follow from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. at the same location. Directly after the service, please join the family at St. Mark’s Family Center, 1271 North Ave., Burlington; bring a dish and memories of Jan to share.
