Frederick A. LaRose, 87 passed away Monday September 23, 2019 at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester. He was born in Shelburne, VT April 28, 1932 to Joseph A. and Zilla (Felch) LaRose. Frederick proudly served our country enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1951. He was honorable discharged in April 1954.
On June 18, 1955 Frederick married the love of his life Catherine Poland in Burlington VT. During their 64 years of marriage, they made many happy, loving memories together and with their family.
Fred had an honorably work ethic both at home and his place of employment with Vermont Railway, where he worked for over 30 years, retiring in June of 1997.
Fred loved spending time with his family. He told the best stories full of wit and humor. He especially loved conversations evolving politics.
He enjoyed working on his land, riding his tractor, tending his gardens, boating, and playing games with his family.
He was a clever, creative carpenter who could fix anything. He was always quick to help anyone who needed him.
Fred was a magnet to children and pets. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they adored him.
Fred was an incredibly devoted caring husband and father who put his family before himself always.
Fred, Dad, Papa, Pops, Oldman. We honor, love and respect you. We are forever blessed to have had you in our lives.
Your love, gentleness and humor will be deeply missed!
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife Catherine; sons David LaRose and his wife Paula; Bradley LaRose and his wife Karin; Kevin LaRose and his wife Donna; daughters Diane Hollwedel, Kim Gaboriault and her husband Gary; Kathy LaRose and her fiancé Rex Ste. Marie. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren; Travis, Eric, Natalie, Hillary, Ben, Ashley, Stephanie, Lindsey and Tyler. Two great-grandchildren Luciana and Zella also survive.
Frederick was predeceased by his parents, sister Amy and brother Joseph.
Visiting hours will be Thursday, September 26, 2019 between 4:00-6:00pm at Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant Street, Essex Junction. A service will be held at the funeral home Friday, September 27, 2019 at 11:00am.
