Denise Katherine Noble
Burlington - Denise Katherine Noble, 67, of Burlington, Vermont, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Denise was born to Richard and Sheila Wausserbauer, June 9, 1951 in New Hyde Park, Long Island, New York. She graduated from Herricks High School in 1969 and received a Business Degree from New York State University at Farmingdale, NY. She married Robert William Noble in 1971, and they lived together, first in Europe, where they adopted Robert Michael Noble in High Wycombe, England while Capt. Noble was stationed by The United States Air Force embarked on a mission to train the pilot's there how to fly the F-4. Denise was pre-deceased by her husband Robert in February of 1980, in a plane crash at Plattsburg Air Force Base flying as one of Vermont's Green Mountain Boys.
She leaves as her legacy her 33-year companion James Thomas Messier, Burlington, VT and her 3 children: Robert Michael Noble, Burlington, VT Paul James Messier, Burlington VT & Kevin Joseph Messier, Albermarle, North Carolina. She also leaves to cherish her memory 7 siblings, Sheila, Rick, Leslie, Jerry, Claire, Tim & Barbara. Her children remember her as the matriarch of their family, always being the Mom who would be the one looked to at every sporting event, and have the absolute best meals prepared for tailgate events following, or dinner at The House where everyone was welcome and no one ever left hungry, or without a warm goodbye hoping to see you again soon
She was pre-deceased by her parents Richard & Sheila Wausserbauer, as well as her step-son Tim Messier.
Denise was a staple in the New North End of Burlington as she worked for many years as the front office manager at Jim Messier's Shell on North Avenue, which is where she met her life-long companion, and from where she retired in 2016. You could always be sure that you'd be greeted with a warm smile and contagiously positive attitude while finding out all of the happenings on North Ave. Denise was always involved in the various sporting teams that her sons were either playing, or coaching. Denise was passionate about arts & crafts and was always delighted to present friends and family with her home-made cards. For many years, she would embroider for her company Spinning Threads, designing and embroidering for Hunt Middle School, C.P. Smith, and Burlington High School, that she ran out of her home on Shore Road.
A wake is scheduled for Thursday, June 21, 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Corbin & Palmer Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant Street, Essex Jct, VT 05452. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, June 22 at 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Church, 1251 North Avenue, Burlington VT, 05408. Father Dallas will officiate the ceremony. Burial will take place for the immediate family following the service. A reception will follow at the St. Mark's youth center. The family requests that you bring a dish to share, as that's the way Mom would have wanted it.
