Arthur Daniel Vezina

April 25, 1958 ~ July 19, 2018 (age 60)

Arthur Daniel Vezina, 60, passed away after a long illness on July 19, 2018.  He was born on April 25, 1958 to John and Norma Vezina and spent most of his childhood growing up in Essex Junction.  He and his family lived in Arizona from 1968-1971 before returning to Vermont.  As a kid, Art was a light hearted troublemaker among his siblings and neighborhood friends.  After high school, Art spent 4 years in the Marine Corps as an airplane mechanic, serving at US bases and at Okinawa.  He returned to Vermont after his service and settled down to start a family.  He worked at ABF Freight for more than 30 years as a truck driver.  He received many awards during his career for safe driving.  He was a hard working man with an excellent work ethic.  At home, Art enjoyed spending time outdoors on the property he shared with his beloved wife Becky.  For many years, he helped care for the horses they kept.  Art had a great sense of humor and was a loyal and loving friend to many people.  He cared deeply for his wife Becky, and was a strong support for those around him who struggled.  Art was incredibly proud of his 3 daughters and their growing families.  He had an inventive mind and came up with many creative solutions in his work around the house, or just fun and silly ideas (like a pair of “moon boots’ he built from automotive springs).  He was kind and loving and brave and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.  He is survived by his dear wife of 13 years, Rebecca Calevro, and their sweet pups Roscoe and Daisy, his cat Molly; his daughter Samantha Lapalme and her husband Suleiman and their children Samson, Ira and Ruth; his daughter Danielle Vezina and her fiance Cheddhi Thomas; his daughter Jamie Vezina; his brother John Vezina and his wife Lynne; his sister Maureen and her husband John Clements; his sister Kate Rickert and her husband Greg; his niece Kristy Calevro and her fiance Erik Hammond; his nieces and nephews Jessica, Rebecca, Hannah, Kelsey, Joshua, Matt and their partners; his wife’s siblings Debbie, Joe and Todd Calevro; as well as many dear friends. We will miss Art with all our hearts.  A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Thursday, July 26 at 11:00 with a reception to follow.
