John Emery Chartrand
On May 31, 2017, John Emery Chartrand's courageous battle with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma came to an end.
John was born in Middlebury, VT on May 4, 1954 to Jules and Bertha Chartrand. Upon graduation from CVU in 1972, John enlisted in the Navy fulfilling his basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois. Other duty stations included Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, California, the Philippines, and Guam. He retired in 1992 completing 20 years of service with the Navy. With a specialty in mechanics, John dedicated the remainder of his life to his trade and leaves behind many friends from S.T. Griswold, S.D. Ireland and Casella Waste Management.
In 1992, John met the love of his life, Linda, and together they shared 25 years of love and laughter surrounded by their devoted children, their spouses, and eleven grandchildren of whom he adored. To his family, he will forever be known as "Pops", the best Dad and Grandpa anyone could hope for.
John was predeceased by his mother, Bertha and father, Jules Chartrand. He is survived by his soulmate, Linda, daughter, Kristine Morava (Devin), son, Dante Chartrand (Jessica), stepchildren, Melinda Letzelter (Allen), Spencer Supernor (Alicia), and Lyman Gaudette (Megan Stearns); his adored grandchildren, Destiney, Vivica, Christopher, Aubrey, Broden, Grady, Alexis, Tyler, Adelyn, Anderson and Weston; his sister Shirley Priest (Michael), brother David Chartrand (Deb Lovejoy) and brother Donald Chartrand (Marion) as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held at Corbin and Palmer Shelburne Chapel on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 3:00 to 6:00pm. A Christian mass will be held at St. Catherine of Sienna church in Shelburne, VT on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 11:30am. Burial will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project Wounded Warrior Project: PO BOX 758516, Topeka, KS 66675 in John's name.
